What Happened When Ten Strangers Gathered in the SoulFit Kitchen

It's been a week since our Nourish & Restore Kitchen Experience. And I'm still thinking about it.

Not in the way you replay a good event and feel satisfied. In the way something plants itself in you and keeps growing. In the way an experience reveals something you didn't fully know you needed until it was happening right in front of you.

I've been sitting with it all week. Letting it settle. And what has emerged from that quiet is something I want to share with you — because I think it points to something much bigger than one Saturday afternoon in a kitchen.

It Started with Something Sweet

Before we touched a single knife or cutting board I wanted everyone to slow down and arrive. So I welcomed our ten guests with a Triple Berry Chia Jam served with fresh fruit and a Creamsicle Oat Pudding — simple, vibrant, whole food — and we sat together and talked.

I asked everyone one question: how do you relate to healthy eating and food prep in your everyday life?

The answers were honest. Some people felt overwhelmed. Some felt bored with the same old meals. Some were managing health conditions and looking for a new approach. Some just wanted to learn something new and have a good time.

All of them belonged exactly where they were.

Then We Got in the Kitchen

I invited everyone to join me and gave each person a task. Chopping, stirring, measuring, mixing — everyone had a role and everyone showed up for it.

One of my favorite moments of the entire day happened quietly, without any fanfare.

April and her granddaughter standing side by side at the cutting board. That little girl was learning how to chop vegetables for the first time. Focused. Proud. Absolutely delighted with herself.

That's what food can do when you create the right environment around it. It connects generations. It slows time down. It turns something ordinary into something you'll remember for the rest of your life.

What We Made Together

Our menu was colorful, nourishing, and honestly — stunning:

  • Mango Pineapple Salsa Salad

  • Southwestern Bean Bowl

  • Spinach Lentil Curry

  • Greek Chickpea Mason Jar Salad

Every dish was whole food, plant-forward, gluten free, and dairy free. And every single one was made by the hands of the people sitting around the table that afternoon.

The Part That Surprised Everyone

When the cooking was done something happened that I didn't plan but will never forget.

Everyone pitched in to clean up. Without being asked. Naturally. Like a family after Sunday dinner.

And then we sat down together and ate.

Around one table. Ten people who had arrived as strangers a few hours earlier. Laughing, passing dishes, tasting each other's work, marveling at what they had created together.

The most common thing I heard?

"I can't believe how easy that was."

Followed closely by: "When is the next one?"

What This Week Taught Me

I've been turning that question over all week. When is the next one.

And the more I sat with it the more I realized — one afternoon isn't enough. Not because it wasn't beautiful. It was. But because what happened in that kitchen deserves more space to breathe. More time to go deeper. More meals to prepare together. More mornings to wake up and do it all again.

The Nourish & Restore class was the appetizer.

What I've been dreaming about all week is the main course.

Something Bigger is Coming

I'm so excited to share that we are developing a full Me'fullness Weekend Retreat here at SoulFit.

Imagine spending an entire weekend in this space.

Waking up on 33 acres of Tennessee woodland. Moving through a gentle morning yoga session as the mist rises off the Koi Pond. Walking the trails. Sitting in meditation. Restoring in the wellness center between sessions — Sound Bed, HydroMassage, BioMat — letting your nervous system remember what it feels like to be fully at rest.

And then — gathering in the SoulFit Kitchen together to prepare all of the beautiful whole food meals you'll be eating all weekend long.

Nourishment for your body. Restoration for your nervous system. Community for your soul.

That's the Me'fullness Weekend Retreat. And it's coming to SoulFit.

Details are still being lovingly put together and I promise to share everything as soon as it's ready. If you want to be the absolute first to know when registration opens — get on the list at the waiting list. I have a feeling this one will fill quickly.

Thank You

To the ten beautiful souls who showed up last Saturday — thank you.

You brought joy, openness, curiosity, and so much laughter into this kitchen. You reminded me why I built this place. And you gave me the gift of watching something I believed in for a long time finally come to life in front of my eyes.

You'll always be part of the very first Nourish & Restore class in SoulFit history.

I hope to feed you again soon. And next time — I hope we have a whole weekend together. 🌿

Be Well,

Amy
